Blue Shoe Gallery |
"The Blue Shoe Gallery", located on the
northeast corner of the intersection of
North Road and Main Street, is a
shoe-lover's dream! Owner and
artist in residence, Holly Hitchcock,
studied fashion design at F.I.T. in New
York City, worked for years in the
garment district, and brings her love
for fashion to her vivid pastels of
shoes, hats and other accessories.
(Since Holly is a seventh-generation
Vermonter, she often combines these
items whimsically with fruit, vegetables
and old china pieces.)
The gallery, located in Holly's National
Register home, one of Castleton's many
distinguished architectural treasures,
is open by "chance or appointment".
Special orders are welcome. Call
468-5105. There are four other
galleries along Main Street in
Castleton: "Farrow
Gallery" (Patrick Farrow's
sculptures), "Merwin
Gallery" (Tom Merwin's
paintings), "Sew Be It" (Anne Roberts'
quilts and fiber creations), and
"Mountaintop Mosaics" (Sven Warner's
mosaics). Also, Whitney Lamy
operates "Mixing Bowl Productions" (the
well-known 'scratch-and-sniff' books)
out of her Main Street home.

Hubbardton Battlefield |
In the green hills of East Hubbardton,
during the early morning hours of July
