Button Systems, Inc. was contracted by CHRISTUS Health to develop a closed social network for their M2ED (Mission To End Diabetes) project.  The system helps patients manage their chronic disease within a controlled, yet secure environment.  Patients can use it to make better decisions and actions to improve their health. Patients have access to informative articles, announcements, and other resources about their disease.  This provides the patient with powerful information that they can use to make healthy changes in their lifestyle.  Patients even have the ability to send email invitations to their friends and family, asking them to join them on as part of their personal "fan club."

Providers can also benefit from the closed social network as well. Providers can monitor patient activity to see who has and who hasn’t joined the system within a certain period of time.  They can monitor the number of fans their patients are adding, and even see a demographic breakdown of the patients who are using the system.
